April 7, 2017 – An Evening of Sixties & Seventies Folk Songs with Kathleen Healy and Kim Moberg
The CapeSpace team was thrilled to launch our new Coffeehouse entertainment series with an evening of beloved folk songs from the sixties and seventies, performed Pete-Seeger-singalong-style by wonderful local artists Kathleen Healy and Kim Moberg.
Kathleen’s set included favorites like Turn Turn Turn, Blowin’ in the Wind, and If I Had a Hammer, as well as a few topical contemporary songs and a sweet and hopeful original piece entitled Small Things which truly struck a chord with the audience. Kim was up next, opening with a lively rendition of For What It’s Worth, covering more crowd pleasers like People Get Ready and This Land is Your Land, and performing some great original material including Be the Light, about guiding her children through uncertain times.
Kim and Kathleen teamed up at the end of the show for a beautiful harmonized version of Let It Be and finished by leading us all in an acapella rendition of We Shall Overcome. What a delightful evening. We took a trip down memory lane, learned a few new gems, sang our hearts out, and welcomed new friends to our extended CapeSpace family. Thank you Kathleen and Kim for filling our space with beautiful music and lifting our spirits.
Due to popular demand, we will be repeating this event on August 4. Watch for invitations!
