Meet: Richard Menard

Healthcare IT Contractor

“I can concentrate here, and it’s good to be around others who are focused on work.”

1. What is your current occupation?
Healthcare IT Contractor

2. What do you love most about your job & why?
The mission of health care providers and hospitals is to improve patient outcomes while providing a great patient experience and being fiscally viable. I love helping to achieve this mission. I also love computer programming and business problem-solving. There is plenty of both in this profession.

3. What has changed in your industry in the past five years?
The data collection life cycle used to start at check-in and end at discharge. Now, it begins when you first schedule an appointment and end sometime after discharge depending on the level of care. There is more and more data being collected which can be very beneficial for clinical and financial analysis.

4. How has CapeSpace improved your work life?
I can concentrate here, and it’s good to be around others who are focused on work. Plus I’ve made some nice friends and acquaintances. Also, I connect to data centers around the country so I need a fast, reliable internet.

5. What do you enjoy doing in your free time?
I like to kayak and hike. There plenty of places to do both on Cape Cod. And there’s lots of live music venues that I enjoy.

6. What is your favorite place on Cape Cod?
I am still exploring, and I’ve seen many beautiful places, but I like best the National Seashore in Truro and Provincetown.

7. If you could invite any three people living or dead to a dinner party who would they be and why?
Steven Colbert, because he makes me laugh.

Mahatma Gandhi, because he makes me hopeful

My Dad, Robert Menard, because I miss him and he would enjoy being here today.

8. What is your superpower?
Scrabble. I play about 10 games a day and often score more than 400 points per game.
